Harriers Second Highland Club to Recieve Accreditation
02 April 2009

Club athletics in the Highland region continues to progress with the news that Inverness Harriers has achieved scottishathletics Clubmark.

The Clubmark programme recognises clubs who meet national standards of practice and who provide a safe and effective structure for members. The Harriers are the second club from the Highland Athletics Partnership to gain this recognition, following the success of Caithness Athletics Club in July 2008.

scottishathletics Education and Development Manager said: "We are very pleased to make this award to Inverness Harriers in recognition of the excellent structure which the club volunteers have worked hard to implement. The club work well within the Highland Athletics Partnership and are to be commended for their efforts."

An Inverness Harriers spokesman added: "Our welfare officer Alan Mair is to be congratulated for his effort in pulling everything together for us to get the award."

"This award endorses all the good practices that the club do and members will be reassured that we adhere to the minimum operating requirements required today by clubs."

Inverness Harriers representatives were presented with their award by scottishathletics Chief Executive Geoff Wightman and Education and Development Manager Ewen Cameron at the recent Six Year Plan consultation roadshow which was hosted at Inverness College (pictured, courtesy of Angus Dick).

Each of the Highland clubs work in close partnership with scottishathletics and Highland Athletics Partnership Development Officer, Julie Wyatt.
