House Martins and Swallows

by Wendy - 13:29 on 04 May 2010

It was Good Friday, 2nd April 2010. It was quite cold and very cloudy. I had been working all day in the garden. It was mid afternoon and I heard them. That familiar screeching. I looked up, but all I could see was clouds. On the Saturday, we had a beautiful blue sky, but not a Swallow, or House Martin, in sight. It must have been the 'scouts', the early ones. It was about a week later, when a few more appeared dashing and darting around. What a long flight they have, all the way from Africa. It means Summer is on it's way...at last!
