1st September Mrs A. Barclay -Visit to Portmahomack
A lovely visit to Tarbat Discovery Centre in Pormahomack - would definitely recommend a visit if you haven't been. Lots of history to discover. For more information see here
6th September Father Mel Langille -Nova Scotia Connections
Another great night with a good crowd in attendance. Mel's talk was very informative and entertaining at the same time. He talked on the history of Nova Scotia and of its people and places, both having a very strong connection to Scotland with Scottish surnames and place names in abundance. Mel also showed some beautiful photographs of the area including some of the gravestones with local connections . An excellent evening!
3rd November Nick Lindsay/Morag Sutherland
- Review of France/Belgium Trip 2010
Nick and Morag reviewed the trip with lots of great photos and quite a few laughs along the way. A very enjoyable evening with talk of a possible trip to the WW2 battlefields.
1st December John Mackay and Lionel
- Sutherland Lodges - North & South
John and Lionel showed their beautiful photographs of the many lodges once owned by the "Sutherland" family. An informative and enlightening evening.
January - Ceilidh - a great night as always.
2nd February R.I. Beaton -Golspie
Robert continued his informative talk on the many properties on Golspie's Main Street and their inhabitants over the years with the audience contributing willingly. Another excellent evening.
2nd March Robin Johnston
- NS Registrations and Monte Carlo Rally
Robin showed the meeting the vast amount of work he has done gathering information on the Monte Carlo Rally and the numerous NS registration vehicles from around Sutherland.
6th April Malcolm Bremner, Wick Heritage Society
- Cooperage
Malcolm was entertaining as usual and displayed some of Wick Heritage Society's vast collection of photographs highlighting cooperage. A fascinating talk.
4th May Susan Kruse, ARCH - Golspie’s Archaeology
Susan highlighted the many archaeological finds and sites thoughout the Golspie area with the audience contributing their knowledge and everyone was amazed at the vast amount of items and sites there are in our small village.
1st June K.F. Maclean - Local Knowledge
Sadly, one of our founding members, Kenny, died this summer and was unable to deliver his much awaited talk. He was adamant that he would talk about his knowledge of by-names in the village, however, this was not to be.
