Trip to the Battlefields of France and Belgium
Easter, 2010
Morag Sutherland is organising a trip to the Battlefields of World War 1 in Belgium and Northern France at Easter 2010 through Clyne Heritage Society. Morag has offered to organise the trip and guide us, as she has several years experience of taking both school and adult trips to the area in the past. If you are a member living away from the Golspie/Brora area, then arrangements could be made to be picked up en route or to join up at Hull (or even Zebrugge, for that matter).
Bookings for the trip have now closed - we will let you know how we get on once we return.
Ypres, 1917
Provisional Programme
Depart: Monday April 5th 2010 by coach - Drive to Hull.
Overnight ferry to Zeebrugge
Tuesday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 7 - Somme sites, N France
(Tuesday night in hotel in Arras)
Thursday, April 8 and Friday, April 9 - Salient sites in Ypres, Belgium
(Wednesday and Thursday nights in hotel in Ypres)
Return: Friday, April 9 evening - overnight ferry to Hull - Arrive Saturday April 10th evening.
Cost: £350-400 - All inclusive cost - return coach travel, return ferry (including cabin, evening meals
and breakfast), B & B in hotels (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Costs not included - lunch and evening meals, own insurance and entry to sites.
