MAKE a NUMBER PLAQUE or HOUSE NAME
Peter will show you a range of different examples and with regular demonstrations and one to one support, guide you through the different stages of the task. For the complete beginner you can make quite complex designs by using his cutters, stamps and templates whilst the more experienced potter will have the opportunity to explore more personal ideas. You can then use underglazes to colour your design. Melted glass works well with this task and if you have bits of coloured glass at home you may like to incorporate these into your work. Your plaque will be made with crank or white clay and fired to stoneware making it frost proof. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners. All the materials, tools and information necessary will be provided. There will be an additional cost of £15 on the day to cover materials and a firing in Peter’s kiln. The work made during the workshop, will be taken away, fired and returned to you.

BOTANICAL ART
The course is designed to build confidence, encourage accuracy, observation and composition for beginners and intermediate students. It also introduces students to the wonderful world of coloured and graphite pencils. The course will concentrate on combining both mediums in one composition using fruit, vegetables, seed heads and flowers. No water is used as these pencils are oil based.
Tutor
Marilyn Hughes SBA is a contemporary Botanical Artist working in oil based coloured pencil and graphite pencils. Marilyn’s love of flowers and gardens, together with her flower arranging and floristry skills made possible the natural progression to botanical art. After using most mediums she found that oil based pencils with a mix of graphite was to be her chosen medium. Painting in oils is also a firm favourite. With these three mediums she combines the vibrancy of colour and accuracy into pieces of work, bringing them to life.
Marilyn has been teaching pencil for the past 15 years at venues such as Cirencester College; Bristol Botanical Gardens; Nature in Art; GACG Summer School and various Art Clubs as well as running her own workshops. Her superbly finite detailed drawings have been admitted and exhibited nationwide.
