ACRYLIC INKS

During this workshop we will explore the possibilities that acrylic inks provide. The intense colours can be transparent or opaque and are particularly suitable for glazing, underpainting, washes or fine detail. We will work wet on dry, wet-into-wet, layer colour, explore the use of additives and investigate the possible applications for mixed media work.

JEWELLERY MAKING for beginners

Spend a day learning basic jewellery making techniques in Sterling Silver. Start by wire-beading a pair of earrings and then progress to a beaded bracelet with some simple soldering. You can select from a wide range of glass and semi-precious beads or bring along your own. I will demonstrate other processes during the day to show how you could progress further…..

All tools are provided with a charge made by the tutor for any materials used.

FIGURE DRAWING

This is a Life Drawing workshop, but due to the venue our model has to be semi-clad.  However, all the benefits of life drawing will be gained, including the addition of artistically draped fabric which can create even better results. In the morning we will work on various different and dynamic poses using quick drawing materials such as charcoal, pencils and pens.  After lunch there will be one long pose which will be perfect for more detailed studies and colour work in pastels, watercolour, inks, or any medium you choose. There will be an extra charge for the model’s fees which will be evenly shared between all course participants and will not exceed £10 each.

Tutor

Kate Smith studied art at Goldsmith’s College in London for 4 years. She is a qualified tutor in further education (FENTO), as well as having a PGCE in secondary school art education. A GATEWAY INTO WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

This one day workshop will appeal to those looking for a gateway into water colour painting.

Many people find water colour paints difficult to control and believe that they have to master complicated techniques to achieve good results. Art teacher David has a practical approach that can make water colour accessible to you.

Starting with a blank sheet of paper, and with David helping you through every stage, the workshop is designed for you to complete your picture on the day.

Basic Materials will be supplied by David for use on the day.

If you have your own brushes, paints, and palette please bring them with you.

Tutor

David has been running adult classes in Gloucestershire for over nine years. He is a practicing artist and illustrator with over thirty years of experience. http://ochiltree.org.uk
