Gerard's Diaries
Gerard kept a diary from 1891 until he died in 1955 - but then his wife Violet took over, and kept it until she returned to England in 1965.
The diaries are (2024) being scanned - the easy bit ! - and perhaps at some stage they may be transcribed and added here.
But his diary for 1925 (when he was 54) was transcribed by his grandson Robin in 1993 (when HE was 54), and it can be downloaded from the Library. I hope eventually to add more, but the priority is the scanning, for the scans can be spread around, and take up little room.
Gerard often would insert photographs, programmes, newspaper cuttings, etc., into his diary, and they are considered part of the record, so also scanned.

Those underlined & bold have been scanned.
Those also in RED have been transcribed.
If you want any, just ask.

The number after the year is the number of months that have been transcribed -
- but NOT the fewer number uploaded to this WebSite.
If no number, the year has been scanned. but not transcribed.
If the year has "x", it has not yet been scanned.
If a year is on this WebSite, the year number is a Link to that Page, e.g. 1925.
If you would like to do some transcribing,
please conact us.
The Diaries he used had about 100 pages of advertisements at the beginning. These have been scanned, but are not included here. At the end of the Diaries were blank pages for "expenditure", etc. - these are included where they contain anything that he wrote; otherwise they were not scanned.
