A New Commandment

" There is no fear in love," we read,
" For perfect love," it is decreed,
" Shall drive tormenting fear away."
And is there any dares to pray
The God of Love to help his need—
Within the self-same hour to plead
The love of God and then proceed
To hate his brother, who will say
There is no fear in love ?
For the commandment we must heed.
If we would worship God indeed,
Bids us to offer, day by day,
Love that our brother can repay ;
And only when we so concede
There is no fear in love.
