The worldwide success of a company which has its roots in Ross-shire has been recognised with a prestigious national award. The Global Energy Group received the Clydesdale Bank Award for Best International Business in Scotland’s International Awards, organised by the Scottish Council for Development and Industry. Global director Iain MacGregor was presented with the trophy by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow attended by 850 leading figures in Scottish business and politics.

Valt Vodka, based in Kingussie, produces the world's only single malt Scottish vodka - and it has just won a contract in Ukraine. A Kingussie company which produces the world's only single malt Scottish vodka has won a contract in Ukraine. Oliver Storrie of the firm said: "It's a real breakthrough to get into Ukraine. It's like telling a Scotsman about whisky. The Ukrainians were slightly sceptical at first but once they tasted the vodka their opinion completely changed."
