FRLLY’s STORY SO FAR
Since that fateful evening when I sang at the first Ceilidh of 2012 and I was invited by Victor Thomas, Programme Controller of the local DUNOON COMMUNITY RADIO along for an Interview my life has taken a whole new direction.
INTERVIEW
One Thursday evening in February I took part in Victor’s Late Late Late VERY Late Breakfast Show,  which runs every weekday from 5pm until 7pm answering his questions, which introduced the new Mod Information Co-ordinator to the Listener.
From that Thursday on I was to BE THERE to supply INFO on MOD 2012 and open up the activities of the GAELIC Community to the wider world.
RECOGNITION
A decision had to be made about my RADIO NAME it had to be catchy!!
We could not use my first name because there were too many of them around on Radio. My middle name is still recognised locally (22 years since )as a Formal Name from my previous career in Animal Care.  I suggested the name I am known by the Gaelic Waulking Song Group  FRLLY since there too my own name is similar to two other Waulkers.  (Frances Rosemary Lynn and the start of my surname again Ly).
Victor told me that eventually I would be running my own show but for the first few months I would be a co-presenter and he would run the Sound Desk .
ACTIVITIES
Over the next two months I watched, learned and took part in the two hour show. Chatted to invited guests, gained understanding about the production side of the Radio.  Through bringing along my selection of Gaelic Music Cd.s and trying to get them over the wide desk to Victor in time for playing, I found myself wishing for an easier way of CD Playing.  THAT was when I listened to the other Presenters at the frequent Community Radio meetings as they discussed playlists and Itunes.. Victor found time to take me through the basics of Production which I took home to my laptop and practiced.
EVENTS
The first THURSDAY in MAY I produced my first two CD.s and handed them proudly to Victor at the beginning of the programme.  As time progressed I realised that none of my music was being played and it was after the SHOW was over that Vicotr told me that my CD.s were blank!!
If at first you don’t succeed, try try again!!
It was again due to listening to the Radio Presenters community chat ins on a Tuesday evening that I found where I was going wrong, I had produced a DATA CD. So returning to my laptop I experimented AGAIN.
Last week  17th MAY in great trepidation I supplied a playlist CD to Victor and waited with bated breath for the first track “Lets have a Ceilidh with Alisdair Gillies and it PLAYED  success. I had done it!. Thanks to Luke, Trish, Reese, Sarah, Rupert, Garry, DJ Davy, Dr Phil etc..
REALISATION OF MY RESPONSIBILITIES
It was as I sat in on the Provincial Mod at Stirlings competitions that I realised that not only was I to report I needed to get in there and compete!  So now I have filled up and SENT MY ENTRY FORM  for the ROYAL NATIONAL MOD 2012 to be held in DUNOON ..entering for the Marjory Kennedy Fraser: The Sarah Weir ( Mull song) : The Skye and Sutherland: and the Self Accompanyment.
PROVINCIAL MOD ENTRIES
I have entered 3 competitions in the Oban Mod being held at the end of June and will enter THE MULL and the DALRIADA PROVINCIAL MODS in September.
