The Corporation Club maintained their place at the top of the table with an 8-3 win at Nursery B to serve notice that they intend to make a big fight of it this season.

Quarrymans also won 8-3 at home to High Fell B to stay one point behind in second. For the second week running High Fell B applied the pressure early on taking a 3-2 lead into the singles. The Quarrymans though showed their strength with a clean sweep taking all six individual legs to claim the points.

Current league champions Nursery A got back on track after last week with a fine 7-4 win away at the Greyhound to jump back into contention and already at this stage it looks as if the season will go to the wire with several teams jostling for honours.

It was the familiar story of missed doubles for Malting House B as they fell to an 8-3 defeat at home to Holly Hill who recorded their first win of the season to move up the league.

The Swan continued to find form at High Fell A and gave the third placed team a run for their money as they fell just one leg short of adding to last weeks their first victory. With a strong line up though High Fell took the match by the odd point 6-5 to maintain their push for league honours.
