The preliminary round was held at Felling Cricket Club with six teams battling for a place in the quarter finals.

Greyhound made short work of their match against Malting House A winning in six straight legs to progress through to finals night.

Quarrymans were made to work against High Fell B before running out 6 - 3 winners, the singles legs being decisive.

Holly Hill were under the cosh in their match against Nursery B and were forced into the deciding lege before old warhorse Stu Benson held his nerve to see them through 6 - 5.
