I obtained a first class degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Leicester in 1980 followed by a PhD in Cosmology from the University of Durham in 1986. I have been teaching astronomy, mathematics and physics for fifteen years, mainly to adults, although my teaching has encompassed all key-stages of the national curriculum as well as higher education. Currently I work as a lead astronomer at the Kielder Observatory situated in the Kielder Forest Park, the darkest location in England. I also work as a one-to-one tutor with A level Maths and Physics students.
