I received my B.A. in English studies in 2004 (Durham University/Universidade de Vigo). A few months later I started studying a 2-year M.A. in medieval English literature, for which I wrote a dissertation entitled  The Grail Knight in medieval English and  German  literature: Parzival and Le Morte D’Arthur. In 2006 I moved to Newcastle upon Tyne where I currently live, and since then I have worked for several institutions and Universities in the North East, including Durham University, The North East Centre for Lifelong Learning  and Gosforth Academy.

At the moment, I teach Spanish for the University of Sunderland and also work part-time on my PhD thesis on Anglo- Saxon literature (Representing evil in Anglo-Saxon heroic poetry: The ambiguous figure of the antihero in the construction of the heroic Ethos.)

My research interests include Old English language and literature, Old Norse literature, Germanic mythology, Arthurian literature and cinematic adaptations of medieval texts.

I have also actively participated in several conferences around Europe in the last few years. Some of my recent papers and publications include:

  • ‘Sed libera nos a malo’: Fighting evil in The Old English dialogues of Solomon and Saturn (Selim XV, Córdoba, 2013)
  • ‘On the nature of the ‘heroic’ and the ‘chivalrous’: Tolkien’s alliterative verse for the 21st C & the publication of The Fall of Arthur’ (The Middle Ages in the Modern World Conference, University of St Andrews, , 2013)
