Being made by Mother Earth, each Natural Gemstone is totally unique and fascinating, even two gemstones cut from the same piece of rock can never be identical.
Although man enhances the gemstones by cutting, polishing and sometimes dying to their final finish, it is nature that forms the original structures and patterns over millions of years.
Agate
It's believed Agate will:
Cure insomnia
Ensure pleasant dreams
Protect against danger
Promote strength and healing
The name Agate comes from the place where it was first discovered, the river Achates (now Dirillo) in southwest Sicily.
Said by the ancients to render the wearer invisible, Agate has been admired by humanity for thousands of years.
It was especially valued during medieval times, when it was the custom to bind Agate to the horns of oxen to ensure a good harvest. The danger was that your beasts of burden would become invisible!!
You will often find beautiful flowing patterns within Agate and it comes in many different colours and can be transparent or opaque.

Amethyst
it's believed Amathyst will:
bring peace of mind and modesty,
change anger into tranquillity.
Throughout history Amethyst has been one of the most popular and mystical of all gemstones,
It has been found in jewellery daeing back to the neolithic period.
This gems name comes from the greek "a methustos"- not to intoxicate, because of it's name it was believed if you drank out of a goblet made of Amethyst it could prevent drunkenness.

BLACK ONYX
Black Onyx is belived to be
One of the most powerfull protection stones.
It Absorbs sorrow.
Hence the deep liquid like aperance of this beautiful gem
This is a gemstone strongly associated with wizards and sorcerers
and it has been engraved with the image of Mars as a sign of courage for centurys.
Carnellian
This gems colour range is vast. from light orange to deep reds and reddish browns, from opaque to translucent.
Carnellian was widely used in roman times in signet rings or seal rings, it was belived that the hot wax would not stick to Carnellian.
Coral
it's believed Coral will:
ward off evil spirits
give wisdom and prevent madness
Coral is believed to be the oldest form of gemstone used in jewellery with some pieces dating back as far as 23,000bc.
This wonder of nature is formed from calcified sea creatures that grow in tree like formations.
Coral is found in many different colours and throughout history has been thought to have metaphysical properties, for instance Red Coral was belived to have magical powers and the Romans would hang a piece around their childrens necks to protect them from danger. Black Coral is one of the rarest colours and is believed to absorb a persons sorrow.
Fluorite
The most famous location for this amazing gem is Castleton in Derbyshire, England, "just down the road from us relatively speaking,"
The miners often call this fabulous crystal "ore flowers" due to its amazing colours, gem collectors still refer to this gem as "the most colourful mineral in the world".
The ancient Egyptians used Flourite in carvings of scarabs and it was also found in the ruins of pompeii.
One form is known as rainbow Fluorite because it is said you can see a rainbow in every piece.
Garnet
it's believed Garnet is:
The gem of love and compassion
also the symbol of purity and truth
It's name comes from the Latin word "granatus" meaning seed of a pomegranate.
Incidentally in Greek mythology this friut is also known to be a gift of love.
Garnet is a gemstone steeped in history, it can be dated as far back as 35000bc, found in jewellery discovered in Egypt.
Noah was said to have used Garnet to light the Ark.
It has a rare ability to fluoresce even in the darkest of rooms.
Hematite
belived to be a protective stone:
balancing your emotions and mental state of mind
Soothing and calming,
(we all need a hand with that from time to time)
Hematite is a beautiful iron-based gemstone, and it's colour ranges from a shiny black to a silvery gray.
There has been a recent discovery of gray hematite on mars.
Jade
it's believed Jade will:
radiate unconditional love
this is a stone of purity
Jade has been valued for millenia by various cultures, stronger than steel it has been used for tools and ornaments.
Yu Jade, Nephrite Jade was the "stone of heaven" in ancient china, this gem has been associated with purity and serenity, signifying wisdom gained in tranquility.
Jasper
believed to be a stone of many gifts:

all Jasper is thought to help with pain and sooth the nerves.
Jasper comes in an unlimited supply of diferent colours and is often named after it's wonderful and elaborate patterns.
These include Ribbon Jasper, Picasso Jasper, Dragon Vein Jasper
and Landscape Jasper which is said to display pictures or scenery of the area where it was mined, although a very captivating thought this does take a lot of imagination.
Lapis Lazuli
it's believed Lapis Lazuli will:
Enhance one's awareness, insight and intellect.
helping the wearer openly state their individual opinion.
this is the stone of true friendship
This gemstone is straight out of fairy tales like the Arabian Nights,
deepest blue with golden inclusions which twinkle like stars on a velvet night sky.
Lapis Lazuli derived it's name from the latin word "lazulum", meaning blue or heaven.
This unique stone has even been found in the tomb of Tutankhamen,
and was once used in art to create the ultramarine blue used by the grand masters, as on portraits of the Virgin Mary that have still retained the brilliant blue of Lapis

This beautiful member of the Jasper family is truly breathtaking,
it has many differant colours ranging from a pale sweetheart pink to a stunning sunset yellowand shades of maroon and cream, often in bands across the gemstone.
The patterns in Mookite are sometimes described as similar to contemporary oil pantings and have a warm flood of colours.
This rich earthy gem is only found in one location on the planet, Mookite Creek in western Australia.
Opals

Opals are beautiful gems, it is said that all of natures fury can be seen in opals, and some can contain every colour of the rainbow.
Their unique internal colours are one of the most facinating visual effects in nature, and often have a breathtakingly beautiful iridescence.
Pearls
Persian mythology called pearls “the tears of the gods”
and the first written document mentioning pearls dates back to 2300 bc from Ancient China.
Ancient Greeks worshipped the beauty of the pearl and associated it with love and marriage, this is one of the resons the pearl necklace became the symbol for a happy marriage.
Quartz
The fine crystal qualities of Quartz have been admired since ancient times, with it's name deriving from the Greek "Krustallos" meaning "ice".
It is belived the Greeks and Romans thought that Quartz was in fact ice that had been made by the gods because it couldn't melt.
Quartz can be found in a myriad of colours.
Rose Quartz, a pink gem that can be translucent with only a hint of pink to an opaque dark pink,
Smokey Quartz is another well known Quartz and can range from having only a hint of colour to being a very dark mysterious gem
Rhodonite
it's believed Rhodonite will:
stabilize the emotions
be soothing, uplifting and harmonizing
this is a gem to uplift spirit, body and mind
Just like Betty Davis is it's star, Rhodonite is the stone of Massachusetts,
Rhodonite is Greek for" rose" and this gem has become known as "the burning rose".
Turquouise
it's believed Turquouise will:
make the wearer eloquent,
loving, creative and honest.
A stone of friendship and communication.
This gem has been highly prized since Egyptian times,
and is one of the few stones that has given it's name to the description of a colour.
Turquoise ranges in colour from a greenish blue to a beautiful striking sky blue.
It can also be found in yellows.
