A nature lover's dream, Dunvegan and surrounding areas hosts a wealth of wildlife wonders.

It's home to white tailed sea eagles, buzzards, oystercatchers and wild geese. There are hares and otters, adders and butterflies. Gaze out to sea, and you may catch a glimpse of whales, dolphins or porpoises, but there is always a good chance of seeing Dunvegan's seals.

In spring, whole hillsides turn blue with native bluebells and if you look carefully, you will find wild purple orchids nestling in the grass. In summer, the verges are heavy with the scent of meadowsweet and vibrant yellow gorse. In autumn, it's the purple heather and rich brown bracken that takes you breath away.
