Thanks to a grant of £1530 from Dunvegan Community Trust (DCT), the local Coastguard and Fire Services have added Thermal Imaging Equipment to assist them in searches.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Watch Commander Alasdair MacLean said: " We wish to pass on our thanks to the Trust in providing this asset to the area. The camera will be of invaluable use when attending fires within a structural premise and further enhances firefighter safety  at operational incidents.

“It will also complement ourselves and our emergency service partners in carrying out searches for Lost and Missing persons.  The camera will be included on the SFRS Community Asset Register so that it can be accessed by a range of partners for operational usage." 

Dunvegan HM Coastguard Station Officer John Douglas agreed: "We would like to thank the Trust for providing this invaluable piece of equipment. The Coastguard is involved with the Police under the Lost and Missing Persons Searches (L&MPS). As search is now our biggest call-out, the thermal imaging camera will be a great asset to our searches, not only for casualty locating but also searcher safety."
