Community Development Officer (Part Time)
The trust is looking to support potential community development opportunities, requiring the engagement of a part-time Community Development Officer. It is proposed that the development officer’s role is focussed on the research of potential future projects, local groups, funding opportunities to co-support future projects, community engagement around any identified projects alongside reporting back to the board and Falck Renewables.
The ideal candidate would be able to carry out the role working on a self-employed basis and will be responsible for their own national insurance, income tax and pension arrangements. While the position requires liaison with individual board members and clerk of the Trust, the position will be “line managed” by the Chair.
Payment for the contract will be £15p/hr based on 18.75 hours per week, 6-month contract (£29,250 pro-rata), based on a 7.5-hour day. Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed when accompanied with valid receipts.

Community Development Officer - Desirable competencies
Education & Experience:
Strong understanding of project management
Understanding of or proven experience of conducting research directly within a community, or non-profit audience
Proven experience in managing projects, including budget management & stakeholder management
Preferred experience within non-profit fundraising, community development activities, ideally contributing towards local projects / groups
Experience preparing reports / feedback / presenting ideas to an audience
Specific skills:
Experience using computers for a variety of tasks
IT literacy ability to use Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Good standard of written and spoken English and confident presentation skills
Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms
Knowledge of the local Dunvegan area
Personal characteristics:
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Self-motivated, passionate about making a difference, proactive can-do attitude
Ability to complete projects in a timely manner
Friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude to maintain positive relationships
Capacity to work with a diverse range of people, groups and organisations.
