Coaching at DTTCCoaching is fundamental to the ongoing success at Dumfries Table Tennis Club and we are lucky to have a group of experienced and committed coaches to work with the Club’s existing and future players.
Dylan De Silva is coordinator of coaching at DTTC. Dylan has over 15 years experience of playing at national and international events and has been involved with coaching at club level for most of this time. Dylan believes that the key to success in table tennis is an enthusiasm and willingness to learn and work hard. Shona Morton is a long serving member of DTTC and has until very recently been the head coach and driving force behind the success of the Club’s young players. Having played for Scotland and coached for many years she has vast experience of the game and of coaching at club level. Stuart Brown is an experienced qualified coach and club player who has represented DTTC at national events. His consistent, counterattacking style of play makes him one of the toughest opponents in the Dumfries league. Along with Dylan and Shona, Stuart makes up the team of three lead coaches at the Club. DTTC is also lucky to have a number of assistant coaches who help out at training sessions, all who have undertaken Club or National coaching courses.
Visiting Coaches David Clifford runs coaching sessions for intermediate and advanced players on Saturday morning on a fortnightly basis. David has a wealth of knowledge, having been involved with table tennis for over 60 years and has been instrumental in the development of the sport at the highest level in the UK. The Club is very lucky to benefit from his experience. Calum Main, who began his table tennis career at the now-defunct Eaglesfield Table Tennis Club and DTTC and is now playing professionally in the Swedish league with club Eslov, has agreed to work with the Club during his breaks back home in Scotland. He will be offering one to one sessions and group training camps during his visits, so the Club’s members can hope to benefit from his experience of playing in one of the top leagues in the world. Details and times will be available at the Club. See Calum Main taking on Drumchapel star Scott Barton on Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UVUelLGryI | ![]() ![]() |
