Dub Blune & Band Album
Side One
Well the very first thing I ever learned in school
is that some people work and the others rule
you break your backs, to pay a lot of tax
And it's never gonna change
you're never gonna change it
there's no going back you've got to keep up the pace
because you're running in the race
One minute you're up and the next one you're down
then you fall on the floor and let the world go round
standing alone, chilled to the bone
And it's never gonna change
you're never gonna change it
just like a friend to pull a gun in your face
he's only running in the race
You could be forgiven for thinking I'm loving
this life I'm living it don't mean nothing to me
because I'd rather be free
Waiting on the line for the starting shot
you've got to make the most of the time you've got
it's all a test, it's you against the rest
And it's never gonna change
you're never gonna change it
you can jump on a plane to another place
you'll still be running in the race
And when you take your final breath
it's still not over cos they tax your death
you can't afford to stay but you can't get away
And it's never gonna change
you're never gonna change it
it's your money or your life you can't get away
because you're running in the race

Saw some guys pretending they were waiting on the corner
I knew that they were robbing and the next thing I hear gunfire
all a sudden we're surrounded by sirens and glass smashing
and a voice comes through the megaphone
and the police dogs teeth are gnashing
'copters got the pictures and they're beamed to all the networks
we interrupt this programme to bring you breaking story
some hoodlum guys got cornered and there's gonna be a shoot-out
we'll be back with all the action after this commercial
Why oh why did I decide to stay
wrong place wrong time any time of day
Media's descended it becomes a feeding frenzy
lasers and the tazers and the weaponry a'plenty
searchlights cut the night so there is no place to run to
I remember I was thinking so this is what we've come to

Money Is Round And It Rolls Away
Money is round and it rolls away
try to save a penny there's a penny to pay
bailiffs coming for me anyday
so they say
Money is nothing if it's not the key
can even determine the place you'll be
some vague promise you may never see
don't much appeal to me
Is there nothing really nothing that is here to stay
nothing really nothing but this time today
If money wasn't short if money wasn't tight
perhaps I'd get some sleep at night
perhaps you'd see me in a new light
Money is a drudge, money is a judge
tried to get a penny but the penny wouldn't budge
one penny piece some folks begrudge
say much too much
Is there nothing really nothing that is here to stay
nothing really nothing but this time today
Money is round and it rolls away
try to save a penny there's a penny to pay
bailiffs coming for me anyday
so they say

I'm a clock, won't you wind me
I'm a mountain, won't you climb me
when you smile you remind me
of all those times I put behind me
I'm a seeker after truth
but I can't find any proof
only rain in through my roof
nothing but your love is any use
If there was a better time, it doesn't spring to mind
I only know that it's the kind
that's impossible to find
Not love or hate but inbetween
seems like all I've ever seen
variations on a theme
nothing ever what it seems
and now when I telephone
and you're never on your own
say you don't like my tone
and you'd rather be alone

Tough Guy
Standing with the tears rolling down his face
His whole life
In one suitcase
Wake up
Should have been a wake up call
He's breaking down
She's breaking up it all
Can't nobody leave a'nothing as it is
That be so very strange
Get by on what they have
Be happy for a change
Tough Guy
Standing with the tears falling down his face
He fell in love
And now his fall from grace
Can't nobody leave a'nothing as it is
It might be out of style
Get by on what they have
Be happy for a while
Tough Guy

What we had, who we were, love so sure
we just aren't those people anymore, anymore
Change, when it ends, we're more like friends
love into affection, passion into memory
every kiss could be goodbye, your goodbye to me
I think we ought to see
Let's let go of each other, it's not me you wanna hold
let's let go of each other
love doesn't strike twice and I can't melt the ice
you've grown so cold
If I wait, where I am
holding on to loneliness
smiling when I can, when I can
If I'm alone, I'm not afraid
we're breaking what we made
the way it is, not the way it should have stayed
Let's let go of each other, it's not me you wanna hold
let's let go of each other
love doesn't strike twice and I can't melt the ice
you've grown so cold
Take a look at, what we've done
take a look at what, we've become
we're under ice, we've lost the sun
under ice and we've lost the sun
Let's let go of each other, it's not me you wanna hold
let's let go of each other
love doesn't strike twice and I can't melt the ice
you've grown so cold

Side Two
Every morning when you shakes 'em on down
Every morning when you shakes 'em on down
when you love me
you don't mess around
I told my good friend
keep my things all in a pile
I'll get collected
but it won't be for a while
Down the tracks like a rolling train
Down the tracks like a rolling train
keeps me smiling
through the hail and rain
Rolling round the world
well one thing that I know
Rolling round the world
well there's one thing that I know
need you to be with me
hoping that you never let me go

Love's surprise in her pretty eyes
shining out like stars in skies
so sweet, to her little feet
that we'd ever meet
Meddling ways, and she never praise
never ending summer days
never made the big parade
deep in conversation stayed
Dumbstruck, can't believe my luck
staying here let them take my truck
nail my colours to the mast
getting nowhere fast

I cannot see eternity will see his like again
a man of vision, trapped in a prison
with walls of truth and pain
imagining a world could change
with the good things that it's got
he died abused, his case unproved
so maybe it cannot
He stood for good
he's gone forever
The words were said, the seed was sown
the message loud and clear
freedom comes when people join
refuse to live in fear
He stood for good
he's gone forever
Hands shot him down in New York Town
the reason very vague
a twentieth century outburst
of a twentieth century plague

I can't wait
will be too late
don't know how much more I can take
and if I think I might apply the brake
you do all those things that make me shake
I dont need to say and another thing
I dont want you to change your way
and another thing
I just want you to stay
one more day
It's good and bad it's up and down
what used to be had gone is back around
and when I think I'll maybe go to ground
I hear your voice
there ain't no sweeter sound
I dont need to say and another thing
I don't want you to go away
and another thing
I just want you to stay
one more day
when we kiss you put me up above
higher up and higher with your love
and if you think you might apply the brake
do all those things that make you shake
do all those things that make you shake
do all those things that make you shake

Well I'm sick to the teeth of officialdom gobbledegook
I'm shaking like a leaf 'case I ever get threatened with a nuke
but don't call me a coward, i'll see my fields flowered, not
vanishing into thin air
Here's the councillor, cooking up the books
and the law enforcement deciding which way they're gonna look
till someone traps his fingers, it happens all the time and they
vanish into thin air
Love's electricity, multi-coloured darts of pain
she tells me that she loves me, sorry she's forgotten my name
well how can I love someone who isn't quite the same as when they
vanished into thin air
She helps him to a bathchair goes and bobs her hair
spends some time deciding exactly what she'll wear
for the men of many nations who accept her invitations then
vanish into thin air
Nowadays anything's possible, anythings curable
profit or lossable, insurable
nothing's unmovable (sic), nothing's unprovable
nothing's much use to have at all, at all
Civilisation bite your nails
think pretty soon we're gonna bound right offa these rails
reactors gone to waste, they'll still be saying they're safe as we
vanish into thin air
Some see the light and some say nothing at all
time's gonna come, lightning skies are gonna fall
some swear they don't believe in God but you'll hear the buggers sing as they
vanish into thin air
Don't you dally, don't you monkey with me
I've as much right as anyone to be free
cos I've explored the jungle and I've helped to win the world just to vanish into thin air
Ten was enough, thirty just a little too much
I climb in the cannon put a match to the little blue touch
farewell my own true love, farewell Leicester Square as I
vanish into thin air
Nowadays, anything's possible, anything curable
profit or lossable, insurable
nothing's unmovable (sic), nothing's unprovable
nothing's much use to have at all, at all
Molly called to Edgar, Edgar called toJoe
Joe was in the meadow deciding what next to mow
there's something we must tell you...
but he never got to know, cos he
vanished into thin air
Little animals ought to treat bigger things with sense
not commence the meeting with the last line of defence
it really is a mystery where all those whales went, they just
vanished into thin air
The world will sure get quieter pretty soon
no birds to sing a melancholy tune
they gave their last recital to the barrels of a rifle and
vanished into thin air
Your generous donation, came just one day too late
the number of these creatures has dwindled down from eight
'fact the last one of the species is smiling from your plate soon to
vanish into thin air
Well I'm bored of the war, and what will be will be
so I call for my pipe and my flute and my fiddlers three
those darktown strutters grooving the queue for heavens moving as we vanish into thin air
