"Rock Hill" in N Gauge

Is the name of a fictitious railway stations on a system / layout designed and made by Keith & Jack Dibden.  The layout started from scratch in January 2007.

All photographs used on this site are copyright of Keith Dibden 2009

The original basic layout consisted of  two approximate ovals with an internal siding loop with three sidings as can be seen in this drawing which also shows the turnouts and point motor positions.

In the top right corner of the layout, as shown here, you can see that two turnouts are show leading off the board.  These are intentional and are the ‘mating points’ for the next stage extension. This may be shown later as things progress, then all will become clear[er].

With the track laid the approximate position of the ‘main’ through road is also marked out, although in one photo you can see that the final route at one end was still to be decided.

Before the Branch Line that runs up to the “Hill Top” station could be started, the landscaping to provide the ‘hill’ had to be constructed – from Polystyrene blocks salvaged from unwanted packaging and a thin piece of plywood to give a base that would take the pins that would hold the track; as can be seen in this photograph.

Then a little landscaping and model making has the layout looking like the following pictures.
