The under 15s reached the North cup final with a convincing win over Ellon Academy at the Highland Football Academy in Dingwall. This was a physical encounter in which Dingwall had to work hard to gain good posession of the ball in order to play their usual passing game. First half sub Lewis Coburn unlocked the Ellon defence midway through the first half when he outpaced the centre back and calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. This goal levelled the game after Ellon stunned the home side following some sloppy defending in the opening minutes.
The equaliser gave Dingwall some much needed belief in themselves and Ellon were glad to hear the half time whistle. Ten minutes into the second half Ally Richie headed home the scraps after Reece Moyes had cleverly lobbed the keeper. Something of an onslought followed with Ellon throwing caution to the wind. Good goalkeeping from Ryan Mackay and his replacement Ali Maclean denied Ellon on the few occasions they penetrated the resilient and assured Dingwall defence. With the game petering out Dingwall secured the victory when the tireless Ryan Macleod, who had been in the wars against much bigger players throughout, slotted home the winner from close range.
A deserved and hard fought victory and a cup final to look forward to. Well done to Charlie and the boys!
