BIOGRAPHY

Born in Leeds in 1953, in my working life I’ve been a carpet fitter, ‘cleansing technician’, storeman, stock control clerk, curtain salesman, bread delivery assistant, bingo checker and full time student. A (mature) mature student at present, I’m studying for a degree in History in the ancient city of Lancaster where I now live.

I’ve been writing since 1987 and publishing poems since 2000 or so. I have a small collection of my poetry assembled on a CD-Rom - ‘Eden’ (2007). A poem of mine has been selected by Forward Press for one of its regional Anthologies. I believe it's due to be published towards the end of the year.

A big fan of Laurel & Hardy (and the old Fred & Ginger musicals too) I’ve attempted to put together a little book about some of the co-workers of Stan and Ollie in Hollywood. More or less complete, it’s dallying in the ‘awaiting publisher’ stage at the minute!

To finish, a few more words about poetry:

Poetry is bloody important
to me. It’s the medium
that I’ve chosen
to help me transcribe

my own state of mind
about what ‘reality’
really boils down to
in a plinth-adoring world;

a poem is the means
by which I’ll wave
my deliberations
at Coleridge, and the like.
