Empty shops are a problem across the UK and Eastbourne, unfortunately, has its fair share.

But they’re also a great opportunity to show off our artistic talent, support new community uses and provide low cost space for small businesses to get off the ground.

The best way to bring our empty shops back to life is with people power. So today we’re calling on Eastbourne residents and businesses to join the Spruce Up Squad.

The Squad will have three main jobs:

    * Identify shops that need to be spruced up and owners who’re willing to give this a go.
    * Give empty shops a clean and a lick of paint if they need it.
    * Find great new temporary uses for these spaces. And that can be anything from putting artwork in the windows to creating a pop up shop for a few months. We’ve got a blank canvas and need your ideas.

If you’re an artist, photographer, painter, carpenter, landlord or cleaning ace then we’d love to hear from you. Just fill out the form on the linkd page above and we’ll be in touch.

We’re delighted to be joined by RegenerArt and the Eastbourne Herald in our push to get this going. Thanks for your help both!
