New Project; RegenerART
27 August 2009

Following on from lots of research, Tania Long, chair of the Creative Co-op, arranged a meeting with local artists, council members, and artist groups about the governments new policy for putting art into empty shops to help revive towns during the downturn.

This is a branch project linked to the Royal Project which is about regenerating the old Hippodrome Theatre in Seaside in Eastbourne, and all the area around it.

The town center shops opportunity has been mainly given to the Towner art gallery - so far. RegenerART aims to put local artists work in shop windows, either art already existing, or art specifically designed for this project., including 3d art and performance art.

There is now a Facebook page set up where you will be able to view the art and the shops we regnerART.

We hope to set up temporary art centre spaces in empty propertys where there will be workshops, music & exhibitions.

If you are an artist or artist group, based in or near Eastbourne, East Sussex,  who would like to be part of this project, please contact

Tania at tarniya2003@yahoo.co.uk

or

Ben Cooper at bencooper@hotmail.co.uk

We also welcome enquiries from landlords or businesses who can benifit from this scheme, and would like to work with us to improve the look of thier empty propertys, thus attracting new tenants, and make Eastbourne a vibrant place for visitors and residents alike.Donations of materials from local businesses would also be helpfull and you would be given credit on the accompanying details for a window display.
