Several good people have bought my book, and have responded by telling me 'Plum Tales' of their own. A selection of these I now give below.
Plum took part in one of the first KMC rock-climbing meets I attended. It was on Laddow Rocks. For years the front cover of my Laddow Guide, which in those days was grey fabric and not wipe-clean plastic, bore the muddy paw-print of Plum's dog, Rover. The paw print is almost as good as having it signed by Plum himself.
Everyone who ever knew him must have tales to tell of his antics, but of course the written versions could never be equal to the original as spoken by Plum himself.
Dog's name? Ceilidh. Always sat beside Plum on the front seat of the bus we used at the Lodge. The seat was covered in dog-hairs; we could not let anyone else onto the bus until we had cleared it.
When you sat opposite him for lunch in the Sheiling, he would frequently eat your sandwich by mistake - you just let it happen.
