Mount Carmel Golf Club, Illinois
The first course that I played on American soil with my own clubs.
Booked a tee off time the night before for 10.30. It was a fabulous morning, maybe a bit too hot for me but looking forward to a game never the less. Very friendly staff and after watching the golf channel and seeing the tailmade golf ball advertised I bought a sleeve to see how it would compare to the pro v1. Wow iam impressed what a lovely golf course, hit 2 drives off the first both side by side so no extra distance 2nd shots land on the green pro v lands comes back about a foot but the bloody other thing spun off the green!! Maybe just a one off.
Par 3 second pro v a bit of action on it, the tailor made came back at least 20 feet, hell don't think I have ever had so much spin on a ball before. I like the feel of the tailor made but much prefer the pro v.
I was lucky enough to catch up a father and son out playing and they invited me to join them as the course was busy and the going slow. The son was a big hitter of the ball and a useful player for an 8 handicapper.
Mount Carmel greens were lovely, fast to putt on but soft enough to attack the hole. Some lovely holes and would have loved to have played a second round in the afternoon but it was far too hot so I reluctantly went back to my hotel room.
If you are ever in the area dont let this hidden gem pass you by.
