After an indifferent start the day brightened on Saturday and by 2pm three boats were jostling for position on the race start line. They did not, however, have the Loch to themselves as both the lifeboat and helicopter crews had decided to have a practice day which meant lots of noisy hovering and spray from the helicopter down-draught which threatened to blow the racers out of the water!
Despite this excitement Eureka took an early lead leaving Foxcub and Intro-Verte battling it out across the Loch on a track which soon threatened to put them in the path of a minesweeper which had chosen this moment to arrive in the Loch. Foxcub ducked away to get the better wind but the duel continued out to sea although both failed to catch up with Eureka.
The return leg from the Otterard Buoy was a run and Intro-Verte, helmed by Ryan McManus's father Owen, soon had the spinnaker flying and edged away from Foxcub to take second place across the finish.
The winning boat was Eureka helmed by Judy Orr.
