Welcome to the Campaign for Cat Hill website
It is with great sadness I have to tell you our High Court case had to be droppped. We had a good case that Enfield Council failed to consult statutory consultees, English Heritage, Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission. Our barrister believed we would get the council's recommendation quashed. However, our legal costs kept rising. What started out at £8000 soon grew to £13,000 and would ultimately have reached c.£23,000. We raised just over £7,000.
I would like to thank everyone who made generous donations to the legal expenses fund and attended and supported our fundraisers. I am just so sorry I couldnt do more and feel I let you all down.
The Residents' Association has now been formally constituted as the Cat Hill Area Residents' Association (CHARA) and I am pleased to tell you that all the existing committee and myself will be staying on to get this up and running as an effective association. A new website will be developed, probably after Christmas, and I will post details here.
In between times please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns, especially about the build on the old campus site. Any issues, for example, noise, dust, lorries parked in your street, earth etc dropped on the roads, and I will challenge Enfield Council on your behalf.
Once again, thank you all for joining me on this long journey. We achieved some success - the height was reduced, hopefully the ponds will be protected, and some of the Ancient trees preserved. Most of all, we delayed them for THREE years and cost them alot of money.
I wish you all a peaceful Christmas.
