Local Wildlife Haven
Here is an autumnal view of the River Clydach with a glimpse of Dyffryn Pond in the background. This important wildlife site is now visible from the road over the dam at this site. This is due to the efforts of Bryncoch Environment Group. Only a few years ago, the pond was obscured from view because of the huge amount of Japanese knotweed that grew in this area. Due to regular strimming this species has now been kept under control in this location. This work has enabled native plant species to thrive resulting in an increase in the diversity of wildlife seen in the area. In recent years the folllowing bird species have been recorded:- heron, dipper, grey wagtail, mallard, teal, cormorant, greylag goose. kestrel, buzzard, redstart, and kingfisher.
