Clubs and Societies
ROMILEY CAMERA CLUB – is a varied and friendly group with a common purpose, the appreciation of fine photographs. All are welcome. Further details are available on the Website – http:/www.romileycameraclub.com/ or click here.
MACHINE KNITTING GROUP – members provide help and problem solving with machine knitting or hand knitting.
NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY – indoor meetings involve an illustrated talk with slides. Field trips are usually by car or coach to bird watching/botanical local venues. No expertise is required.
ROMILEY & DISTRICT U3A – is part of the world wide University of the Third Age which aims to encourage anyone who is no longer in full-time employment to pursue their interests and to take up new ones. Studying is purely for pleasure. There are no examinations and there is a wide range of groups. Monthly General Meetings are on the fourth Thursday of the month.
THE U3A ART GROUP – provides opportunities for artists of a wide range to get together to draw and paint, sharing knowledge with each other. They meet every Thursday morning in the studio. For further details click here.
FRIDAY NIGHT BRIDGE – The Group meets from 7.30 pm till 10.00 pm. Members enjoy meeting to play Bridge and to welcome anyone interested.
GORTON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA – Founded in 1854, the orchestra presents five concerts each year, two are at Gorton Monastery and one at Romiley Forum. The orchestra rehearses on Sunday mornings at the Community Centre.
KUMON MATHS – is an after school Maths and English study programme tailored to maximise each child’s individual abilities and skills and promote independent learning.
ROMILEY & DISTRICT PROBUS GROUP – is for retired men, meeting regularly to hear guest speakers talk about a wide variety of subjects. Meetings are first and third Thursday of the month from October to April and the first Thursday for the rest of the year.
SEW n REAP – Provides workshops and lessons on all aspects of sewing, including Cushion and Bag making, Vintage Sewing workshops, Corset making, Party Dress making, Skirt making and Mummy sewing classes.
CREATIVE STITCHES – offers an enjoyable introduction to the fascinating world of hand embroidery and textile art. Classes suitable for complete beginners and more experienced stitchers. ROMILEY FLORAL ART GUILD – A friendly group who are interested in floral design and plants. Each month a different expert demonstrator gives ideas and tips. Throughout the year events and garden visits are held.
ROMILEY CRAFT CLUB – Demonstrators or members provide guidance and new ideas regarding all aspects of Craft.
SLIMMING WORLD – provide an environment which gives sustainable healthy support for weight loss. No gimmicks, just honest science-based information and support.
LADIES’ KEEP FIT – A one hour class consisting of ‘barre’, centre and floor work all done to music and finishing with a dance or two. No special kit required, just comfortable clothing.
ROMILEY LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY – Meeting with speakers, and outings and walks relating to local (North West) history. The group meets on the second Friday of the month.
ROMILEY TRADERS – are a group of independent Romiley traders working together to enhance the locality with the goal of improving the vitality and future of the local community. We run the Romiley Village Market on the first Saturday of every month in the plaza square, by the Forum.
RIDGE INDOOR BOWLING – We meet on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10-00 until 12-00 noon. We don't belong to a league but play friendly games for fun.
