Black Isle Horticultural Society Annual General Meeting 2022

Black Isle Horticultural Society Annual General Meeting 2022

7:30pm, Tuesday 8th November,

Committee Room, Gordon Memorial Hall, Rosemarkie

If you plan to attend, please contact us and we'll send you the meeting agenda and papers.

Our plant sales, held in May, have become very successful, with lots of people getting interesting new plants for their gardens at bargain prices, and the opportunity to discuss things with other local gardeners. This year our Summer Show returned to our usual venue in Rosemarkie for the first time since Covid, and saw record numbers of exhibits and exhibitors. Many people were enjoying the experience of entering a Show for the first time, while others came along to see the Show, sample our Cream Teas on the lawn, or watch the finale of our new “Tub of Tatties” competition.

Of course, organising these events and making them successful requires a lot of planning and effort. As they attract more participants, the effort required increases. We have a small committee that organises the Society, and a band of helpers who also assist with running our events. We’re very grateful to all of them.

The Annual General Meeting of the Society is where we make decisions about next year’s events, decide on the Schedule for the Summer Show, and appoint our office-bearers and committee. Some of our committee members are moving away from the area (we’ll miss the help and the enthusiasm for wildflowers!), and we’ll be looking to replace them. If you’re interested in becoming involved, or have thoughts about how our events run or what should be in our Show Schedule, please come along. However, we also know that sometimes people like to help without having the commitment of being formally involved in Committees and AGMs, so if you’re interested in becoming involved in a less formal way, it would be great if you can get in touch.
