2025 Plant Sale

This year's Plant Sale will be on Saturday 10th May, 11:00 to 13:00, outdoors on the grass at Gordon Memorial Hall, Rosemarkie. As usual we'll have a wide selection of interesting plants.

We’ll have four sections in the Sale -

Perennials, Bedding plants, Shrubs & Trees

Native plants, Wildflowers, Herbs

Vegetables, Greenhouse, Soft Fruit

Alpines, Succulents, Small perennials, Houseplants

We won’t put everything out at once, more plants will be put out on the stalls during the sale, so there should still be a good selection if you arrive later.

We use coloured lollipop sticks in the plant pots to indicate prices. This helps keep things simple and speeds up the payment process. There will be plenty of notices indicating the prices represented by each colour- if you want to check them in advance, see the picture below.

We can accept card and phone payments as well as cash at the sale. There will be separate desks for card/phone and cash payments.

We will have some boxes and bags, but it will be really helpful if you can bring your own to take plants away.

If you’re coming by car, please park in the public car park off the main street in Rosemarkie in order to leave the Hall parking available for those with limited mobility and for deliveries and collection. Note that the Hall toilets will not be available, but the public toilets close by in the main street are open.

2025 Summer Show Schedule now available!

This year’s Show will be held on Saturday 9th August at the Gordon Memorial Hall, Rosemarkie, and you can download the Schedule here in Word or pdf format.  If you have any questions please get in touch.

Please note that if you’re printing it out, the Schedule is set up in booklet (sometimes called book fold) format – most printers recognise this and print it correctly automatically, but some don’t and need this format to be selected.

Tub of Tatties and TBI Potato Day

We're running our "Tub of Tatties" competition again this year – you can find details in the Show Schedule. We’ll be selling kits for the competition at Transition Black Isle’s Potato Day on 1st  March in North Kessock https://www.transitionblackisle.org/potato-day-2025.asp  where you can also buy a wide range of potato varieties, onion sets, and seeds from our local seed producers Seeds of Scotland.

About us

The Black Isle Horticultural Society is a community group that holds a friendly local Summer Show, with exhibitors mainly from the Black Isle.  There are classes for Cut Flowers, Pot Plants, Fruit, Vegetables, Baking, Preserves, Crafts, and Photographs. We've also got a section for under 14s, a Novice section for people who haven't entered or won before, and we have a new class for Botanical Illustration. We particularly welcome new visitors and exhibitors. You can find out more about the Show here.

We also run a very popular spring Plant Sale, with a wide range of interesting plants, including some unusual ones. You can find more details here.

The BIHS is run by a small committee of volunteers, who meet to organise our events. If you want to find out more about the Society, to help with our events, or have any questions, please get in touch using our Feedback page.
