September 2012

by Carolyn - 21:19 on 30 September 2012

Whilst the Indian Summer didn't materialise this year we nevertheless enjoyed a number of summer activities in and around Godalming, including the final 'Concert in the Park' at the Jack Phillips Memorial Park, where our young friend Dan was a guest of honour, speaking about the Dan Eley Foundation. www.daneleyfoundation

Also present was Mr. Austin Playfoot,  a local sportsman who carried the Olympic torch in 1948 and again this year - and was invited to re-ignite the flame at the Olymic Park the day after the opening ceremony.

We had a nice gathering in memory of Mum & Dad on 8th September then Bibhas went back to Britanny for a week  to trim  the hedge and lawn and do a few more jobs, whilst Carolyn enjoyed a number of home activities including celebrating the International Day of Peace, a Unitarian Harvest Festival and a Concert to celebrate the refurbishment of St. Johns', Farncombe.  Bibhas was back for the Pepperpot Meeting and the WATER AID meeting at the Unitarian Hall, www.wateraid.org/uk/

We returned to Cyprus on 27th September to quite a hectic weekend including a bi-communal Peace project in the Buffer Zone at Ledra palace in Nicosia where we were greeted by a group of young Bahá'is, and a Fiddlathon organised by another English couple in Kyrenia in aid of  TULIPS Cancer Relief.  Our role was to clear the area after the 12 hour event and drive the fiddler home...  www.docmartintrnc.net
