October 2011

Bibhas spent most of October in Cyprus, joined by cousin Robi for the first two weeks, and had a very relaxing time catching up with family memories and visiting tourist areas as well as enjoying hospitality from several of the local Bahá'ís. After Robi's departure the pace accelerated a little, travelling to meetings around the island, hosting the 'Cluster' reflection meeting for the North at our Karaoglanoglu home and travelling to Limassol for the one for the South. Also replacing the trusty Renault 9 with a Renault 19 - and replacing the kitchen work-tops which had been attacked by termites...
Carolyn decided to stay in England, having managed to break 2 toes, and keep the home fires burning, and with the assistance of kind friends and the odd taxi got to and from a variety of events - only to wreck her back lifting a micro-wave as soon as Bibhas got home! But between us we managed to fill most of our commitments and take part in a variety of interesting meetings around One World Week...
Three of our friends received prestigious awards this month - all members of the Bahá'í National Assembly as it happens! Hon. Barney Leith received an O.B.E. from the Princess Royal at Windsor Castle for Services to the Bahá'í community and Interfaith dialogue, Dr. Peter Hulme received the same award for Services to mental health, and Zarin Hainsworth-Fadaie was named as one of the 100 unsung most influential women in the world

Each of them wonderful unassuming souls whose sincerity has been duly recognised!
Lots planned for November :)
