Nov/Dec 2015 January 2016

by Carolyn Neogi - 00:09 on 01 February 2016

Mont St. Michel

November began with us still relaxing in Cyprus with our friends.  Carolyn travelled home via Athens, followed a few days later by Bibhas who came via Istanbul in time for the various Interfaith Week events at home.  These included Guildford & Godalming Interfaith Forum's annual multifaith Service, Woking People of Faith's dinner event with speechs from the Bishop of Guildford & Baroness Warsi about the challenges of combatting Islamophobia and Radicalisation, and Elmbridge Multifaith Forum's annual Gala, as well as Godalming events hosted by the Unitarians, Christian Scientists and Bahá'ís.

December remained quite mild and involved several seasonal celebrations including Carolyn's birthday, various Concerts and fund-raising events, and joined by a number of friends from across the years coming to us for a New Year party.   Throughout these times we've tried to give material support to the Refugees in Turkey and France as we watch world developments in increasing horror and try to see God's Plan in this suffering and chaos...

In January we celebrated Bibhas' two birthdays in France, first with Kirsi & Timur van Huysen who like us have second homes in both Britanny & Cyprus, and then with Pierre & Parvin Martin, also attending a Bahá'í Feast in Morlaix with a video link to Adéle Malpass in Guernsey, hosted by Helen and Marie-Térese.  Before leaving we attended the first of this season's Woking Debates, a very well-attended meeting with an Officer from PREVENT and President of the Peace Education Programme addressing 'Why do people become Terrorists?' and speaking frankly about the many issues involved.  On our return we observed World Religion Day.

Throughout this period we've both had a raft of health checks, but we're pleased to report that nothing sinister has been uncovered :)
