May - June 2015

May was quite a gentle month, catching up with family and friends, health checks and clearing out excess 'stuff' following Robindra's recent move to a riverside apartment nearby.
June started with an invitation to a big gathering at the Shah Jehan Mosque arranged by the Surrey Muslem Association. The Lord Lieutenant was there and many members of the interfaith community with excellent talks about the shared commitment we have for a fear-free future.
We then went to France, first visiting Caen Memorial where we found ourselves in the middle of the D-Day anniversary arranged by the British Legion, before spending a couple of leisurely weeks enjoying village life and doing some gardening and house maintanance.
Upon our return we had just a few hours to prepare for the wedding of a young friend, Mona, who we've known since the day she was born. She married a Bahá'í from Holland in a very lovely ceremony at the Angel Hotel in Guildford, and we're travelling to another reception in Tunis where her Mum is from.
Just a few days later we were at a big funeral at the Bahá'í Cemetery in Arnos Grove for a dear lady whose three daughters are all friends. A lovely summer day with blue skies and birds singing and a beautiful Service conducted by her talented grand-children and devoted sons-in-law.
The end of the month saw the Bishop's 'tent event'. The new Bishop of Guildford has followed the custom of his predecessor in hosting groups of workers in the diocese in a huge marquee, and we were invited to take part in the 'Living and Working Together' interfaith event, with all the interfaith groups in Surrey coming together to give a presentation on a key activity. Ours was on 35 years of arranging an annual Interfaith Service.
