February 2014

by Bibhas - 17:15 on 10 March 2014

The month started with another historic meeting at Woking Mosque, organised by Woking People of Faith during Interfaith Harmony Week. The event was dedicated to the outbreak of World War One and the involvement of soldiers from the Indian Subcontinent, and there were some excellent speakers from various organisations, followed by lunch...

Afterwards we were invited to tea with Imam Hashmi & his wife, Kauser to meet their new baby, born on New Year's Day.

The next day we set off on our Tour of Turkey's Lyceum Coast.  This was our joint Birthday present, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, travelling with a lovely group of people on a well-organised journey from Antalya to Kusadasi and back, visiting historic sites with snow-capped mountains and sparkling seas all along the route, with boat trips and good food.  It more than lived up to our expectations...

Upon our return we had quite a busy time catching up with local activities as well as driving to Southport overnight to visit dear friends from Cyprus, one of whom is very poorly and to Bristol, also overnight for the funeral of the son-in-law of other Cyprus friends.  In between we went to London for the Memorial of an old friend who died recently in Canada. It would be nice to go to more weddings...

We ended the month in France, arriving in time for an animated Ayyam-i-Há! party in St. Avé - our hosts' 4 children all being back from University with their friends and having lunch with Carolyn's 60s friends the next day en route to our little house in Plounévez-Quintin, which seemed to have survived the winter storms very well.  The local School was on half term so we spent a relaxing week there after all the comings and goings, after visiting our Bahá'í friends in Quimperlé...
