1984 - 1994

By 1984, Gervas was now 77, and Betty 67.  Still fit and active, Gervas gave up his position as County Commissioner for the Boy Scoutss, and Betty hers as President of the Girl Guides' South-West  Region.  Their four children were all in "foreign parts" - their eldest, Gill, was living in South Wales, their eldest son Robin was in Hong Kong, their middle son Nigel was in Australia and their youngest, Crispin, was in Namibia.  All were married, with children, Betty's grandchildren - of which she and Gervas now had eight, five boys and three girls, all born between 1969 and 1974.
