FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

BEST PAW FORWARD FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When you contact Best Paw Forward by telephone we will gather information on your pet. If, after some more information about us, you would like to meet,we will arrange to visit your home. This service is free of charge to ensure that you & your pet are happy with the arrangement. At the initial home visit you will go through a form with us and go through your requirements in a lot more detail. After the home visit you can have a think and decide whether you are happy to proceed, and if so let us know and we can make arrangements.

Who will be walking my dog? There are just two of us, Julie and Terry, who do the walks. We don't employ anybody or use volunteer walkers, nor are we part of a franchise, so it will always be either or both of us.

Are you insured? Yes with Protectivity. Documents available when we meet you, and their seal of insurance appears on our main page.

Do you have references; Yes several which we will show you, they do not appear here to protect the personal details of those who have kindly provided them.

What happens if my pet is ill whilst in your care?  At the home visit, one of the questions we ask is your veterinary details. If we are in doubt as to whether your pet is ill we will contact you or your emergency contact and take the animal  to the vet if we both decide that it is necessary. We will then take the advice of a veterinary surgeon as to the best way to treat the problem. We will keep you or your emergency contact informed and where possible obtain the invoice to pass on to you from the vet.

How do I pay? We accept bank transfer.

What Precautions do you take when walking dogs?  For walks each handler will only take up to and inc 3 dogs at any one time (though 2 at a time is what we do most of the time). The dogs will only be let off the lead if permission has been given from the owner and in a place where it is safe to let them off.

Do you train dogs; Here at Best Paw Forward it is all about giving the dogs exercise and fuss. Although Julie has qualifications in canine behaviour, it is not something that we choose to provide. If you have particular commands for your dog we will endeavour to use them to provide consistency, and will do our best to provide your dog with some guidance whilst walking it (in a calm reward-based way of course),but highly recommend that you seek the service of a fully qualified trainer or behaviourist if your dog has particular issues that need attention. However we aren't able to actually implement a training plan that a trainer has devised on your behalf.

Do I need to provide dog waste bags; No we provide our own, and dispose of them in designated areas of course. We use Pippa & Max's biodegradable recyclable bags. We highly recommend them, they are bright green in colour and are on amazon.
