Yunus Bakhsh Victory
Yunus Bakhsh, trades union activist and member of the Socialist Workers Party spoke at our branch meeting in Tweedmouth, Berwick.
Yunus spoke on his recent victory at an Employment Tribunal. The tribunal found that Yunus had been victimised for his trade union activities by Tyne and Wear NHS Trust. The tribunal also found the Trust discriminated against Yunus after he suffered ill health and was unable to attend a disciplinary hearing.
The meeting agreed that this is not only a victory for Yunus but also a victory for all workers facing bulling management. During a long campaign to clear his name Yunus gained tremendous support from fellow union members and the union movement as a whole, including Berwick Trades Council.
Unfortunately the leadership of Unison has behaved appallingly, effectively colluding with the Trust management. Yunus is now fighting to re gain his job and for re instatement to his union.
