Jimmy Cliff…..
Yesterday, I had my after-lunch nap, and woke to find that Jimmy Cliff has passed from this life…..

I’ve been listening to Jimmy Cliff for a long time – more recently wondering at how strong and clear his voice still is.
The film ‘The Harder They Come‘ is a classic of music and attitude. The content is questionable in quite a few ways! But probably true to life in that place at that time.
People use the word ‘cool’ to describe a lot of things and people - Jimmy Cliff was/is …..COOL.
Two of his songs – encapsulating life….

We had lunch in the café at the Lews Castle museum, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis and I noticed this ‘face’ in the newly plastered wall.
Folk saw me taking the picture, and came to see why. One lady said it reminded her of the Turin Shroud, a young lad said it was “spooky”. Another suggestion was that it was someone who was had been walled up in there! I said it might be Old Matheson, in a grump because the peasantry are now able to wander around his grounds at will! That’s what I reckon it is – Old Matheson, in a grump. I’m not a fan of Old Matheson.
One man commented that life is endlessly interesting, if you are interested in life.
Amen to that.
