Tubular. Bells……
My next ‘The Breaking Wave’ music reference….
“Tubular. Bells’ said Larry in his best Viv Stanshall impression.”
Note the full stop – it’s how Viv Stanshall (of The Bonzo Dog Do-Dah Band) said it. There’s an instrumental intro. – then Viv Stanshall comes in, introducing the instruments……

How many times did me and my friends sit about in Jani Rashid’s Living-room listening to that - the room lit only by Jani's tropical fish tank - getting..…mellow.
And finally …in the Credits….D.I.S.C.O.
I’m sayin’ ‘nowt.

A Search for a Practice of Place
by adam amir
“Where others have traditions to teach, classes for their children, very old stories to tell, I have but a feeling.”
As the first autumn rains arrive here in Northern California, we begin the exploration of our new annual theme, seasons, with a special multimedia feature that invites you to experience how the seasons reveal themselves through place in the eyes of a child. Year after year, filmmaker adam amir takes his young son, Rumi, to meet the seasons within urban and dramatically wild landscapes around Vancouver, British Columbia: hiking past the snow line; standing beneath skies of migrating snow geese; reveling in the sudden abundance of sakura (cherry blossoms); and plucking thimbleberries, salmonberries, strawberries, and huckleberries.
Over four short films that draw on years of footage documenting both Rumi’s growth and the cyclical unfolding of the seasons, this multimedia feature takes you on an intimate journey into Rumi and adam's deepening awareness of their place within a wider community of more-than-human beings and sacred landscapes. Improvisational, playful, and graced with the presence of wriggling salmon, fishing bears, and dancing sandhill cranes, this multipart story is itself a practice of engaging and being present with the seasons through place. Each film offers a gateway to ritual and pilgrimage, the potency of attention to transform a simple excursion into an expression of kinship with the landscapes of home, and the sheer joy of fully participating in the magic that belongs to the seasons. And at the heart of it all is the simple beauty of a father and son immersed in their shared wonder, awe, and love for the living world.”
