“New Special Exhibition 'Hold Fast' is now open!

We are writing to you to let you know that our brand-new special Exhibition 'Hold Fast' is now open at Kilmartin Museum, in the Jolomo and Farmer Galleries, where it will stay until December 14th.

The exhibition celebrates the Argyll Coast and Islands Hope Spot.  Hope Spots are special places, vital for the ocean's health, linked by the international organisation Mission Blue.  This growing global network includes the Galapagos Islands and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.  Collectively, Hope Spots are creating a global wave of community support for ocean conservation.

The six artists involved in the Hold Fast exhibition met at the 2024 Argyll Hope Spot residency: since then, they have stayed connected around their artistic curiosity for the sea.

The exhibition reflects the diversity of the artists: bringing together practices in contemporary jewellery, illustration, mosaic, graphic design, animation, and projection.  Spanning two rooms and featuring suspended sculptural work, wall-based illustrations, immersive soundscapes, projection, and embedded scientific interpretation about the Hope spots seaweed habitats.

There is more information about the exhibition on ouwebsite

Don't forget that you can use your Friends membership card to come along and see the special exhibitions for free!

From ‘Greenpeace’……

“Donald Trump is coming to the UK in just a few weeks - are you ready to give him the welcome he deserves? We want every town, city, and village to show exactly what the UK thinks of him.

Can you join people all around the country who will be stickering their local areas to show that it’s time to resist the billionaire takeover?

Trump is part of the billionaire takeover of our politics. Billionaires like him, and massive corporations are trying to roll back protections for people and the planet - all so they can make even more profit. Whether it’s Trump, Musk or Jeff Bezos - all of these supremely wealthy individuals have used their riches to manipulate politics for their gain.

But they’re underestimating people like you and me. People like us have protected ecosystems that massive corporations have wanted to destroy. We’ve stood up for the rights of others, and we’ve fought for our rights from governments. We need to resist this takeover and inspire other people to action.

When Trump comes to the UK we need to show him - and others, that the resistance is out there, there’s likeminded people all over the country who want to fight this takeover. You’ve already signed the pledge to resist the billionaire takeover - but now can you go a step further? Take action and inspire others to get involved!

Stickering is a bold and creative way to resist - make sure to download our stickering guide after you order a pack!

In love, solidarity and hope,

Anthony
