From Matthew Manning…..

“Behind all creation is silence. It is the essential condition, the vital ingredient for all creation and all that is created. It is a power in its own right.

I once asked my friend Robert Godfrey, the multi-award winning keyboard player, how he composed his beautiful music. He placed one finger on piano keyboard and waited until the sound became silent. “When I hear the silence, I hear the music,” he explained.

The late Dr Lyall Watson told of how he watched fishermen in Indonesia submerging their heads beneath the water before casting their nets. He asked what they were doing, to which they replied that they were listening to “the gaps in the silence”. They could literally hear the fish in the silence.

The artist starts with a blank canvas - silence. The composer places it between and behind notes. The very ground of your being, out of which come all your thoughts is silence.

The way to silence is through meditation. When you arrive in your own silence you will know true freedom and real power.

Stop, take a minute, and listen to the silence within you today.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead … Matthew”

Triggering…

I hear the word ‘Trigger’ a lot - and the idea seems to be that whatever we do, we mustn’t ‘Trigger’ someone‘s uncomfortable memories or make them feel uncomfortable in any way etc etc.

I’ve thought my way all round this idea, and I honestly believe that to be ‘Triggered’ can be a very positive thing – can make you look at something you were avoiding – which could mean that you start to deal with it.

I won’t go on and on about it – just thought I’d throw in my tuppenceworth about ‘Triggering’.

I see a ‘Trigger’ as an opportunity to sort things out – if I can! And give thanks for the opportunity to learn and grow.
