Like to get your hands in the dough and bake?
Orkney Time Travel and Immersive Orkney are proud to release this new, special event, premiering one month from now and scheduled as a one-off for the Orkney Archaeology Society Festival.
On Sunday 14th September you can come with us back to the 1600s to bake traditional oatcakes, visit Barony Mill and see the milling process, hear folktales, and learn about Orkney traditions and folk beliefs connected with bere, the ancient grain.”
The Barony is a good place to visit anyway - this event should make it even more interesting….

“Dicing With Death!
The dreaded DSEI (Defence & Security Equipment International) is making its unwelcome biennial return to the UK, and takes place next month at the ExCeL exhibition centre in London Docklands.
We at CAAT - staff and volunteers - are finalising our arrangements for protesting against this year’s DSEI; it’s shocking that a “fair” to promote death and destruction, with the accompaniment of corruption at the highest levels, should invade our capital city.
Let's make DSEI, the exhibitors, the tens of thousands of delegates from weapons corporations, armed forces and governments know how unwelcome they are.
