Ducks!...... BBC Pics of Scotland….

Ducks!......

We’d noticed that our neighbours ducks have taken to spending time on next-door’s lawn, and hoped they'd come across to our garden and eat the duck-weed which has accumulated on the pond.  They didn’t.

Then a few days ago we noticed that, early morning, the water-dish on the terrace - which is allegedly for hedgehogs - was absolutely filthy…

…and wondered why, as wild birds use it, but they don’t leave it in that state!

This morning the dish was a disgrace again.  I saw movement in the meadow, and saw that the ducks had waddled round the spiral to the broon roond in the middle……

….and were merrily eating seed-heads, to which they’re very welcome. The year is turning, and the once green meadow is turning brown.

We watched them for a while (simple pleasures) then they waddled back round the spiral…

…..across the front of the house…

……and back to next-doors lawn.

We still have hopes that they’ll find the pond and eat the weed!

Then the Wild Ones arrived.  Seymour the Seagull on the bird table…

And a Fat Pigeon optimistically joined the Sparrers and young Starlings at the feeder…

Life in an Orkney garden!
