Trusting Humans…..Save The Swifts….

Trusting Humans
A grey explosion in my backyard
as scared squirrels skitter away
and fat mourning doves lumber up
into the warming sky.
I shake the plastic cup of seeds
like a blue baby rattle, hoping
to get them used to, maybe
even anticipate, my morning feedings.
But they've learned not to trust humans.
Like I can't distinguish individual birds,
they can't tell me from a frustrated
teenager with a BB gun.
And I don't blame them.
I don't trust us either.

How often do I say ‘Dogs is best – you know where you are with dogs’.
The other animals do trust us sometimes, against all odds…..

Save The Swifts….
I received the following email from the 38 Degrees Team….
“Bad news! The rumours are true - the Government is trying to block plans to put swift bricks in all new homes. [1] You've signed the petition to save our Swifts, now I'm asking if you'll take action again and share the petition today.
Because it’s going to take more than just current 38 Degrees supporters signing the petition if we're going to get the Government to change their mind. We need as many people across the UK adding their voice to demand all new houses built in the UK must include Swift bricks so Angela Rayner will act.
