Microscope……
When I'm feeling
Dull gray oppression
My focus narrows
Every word
Every gesture
Every touch
Dissected
Stained
Analyzed
In a microscope
For clues to when
You'll leave me

“New dawn for Tomb of the Eagles?
A much-missed Orkney visitor attraction could be set to reopen thanks to a special community campaign. Tomb of the Eagles closed in 2020 because of the uncertainty facing the tourism industry during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the site has remained shut ever since. Now the South Ronaldsay & Burray Development Trust is working on a project, including a crowdfunder, that will see the tomb reopened and all the assets transferred into community ownership.
Decade of devotion at the Italian Chapel
With tiny, delicate touches of her paintbrush, Antonella Papa has been helping restore the fragile artwork in Orkney’s Italian Chapel over the past month. A professional art restorer from Rome who has worked in the Sistine Chapel, Antonella has been visiting the Chapel with the tools of her trade since 2015, helping maintain this special wartime site and protect it from the Orcadian elements. The chapel was built during the Second World War by Italian Prisoners of War who transformed two Nissen huts into a place of worship and a small reminder of home.
