The Cairns!....
I copied the following text from the ‘Friends of the Cairns’ FB page…..

“The Cairns Excavations will return in Summer 2025..! We will be excavating for a bumper 6-week field season this year from Monday the 9th of June to Friday the 18th of July. We welcome visitors during the working-day and we will have a special open day on Friday the 4th of July. And folks, you heard it here first...this is the penultimate field season of the project! (The Cairns 2006-2026!).”
We missed The Cairns in 2024 due to Mike’s ankle injury - here's our 2023 visit.....

It's an ace place.
As 2025 is the penultimate year, we’re determined to get there, and next year too – barring injury!
The Cairns – Sleeps
Our Dancing Floor is covered
The Well of Wishes – sealed.
Our place, so long neglected
Is starting to be Healed.
We’ll sleep - in Dreamtime
The winter weather through.
Next year – Sometime -
They will return.
And then, we’ll wake
Our place will wake
To youth and light.
Red hair, dark hair
Gleam of light on bronze,
Beads, and benediction of burnished bowl.
We’ll dance again
Weave new life
For the land.
They are Us
And We are They.
Namaste

From Kilmorack Gallery….
“It's a blockbuster March, with four artists - Peter Davis, Patricia Shone, Lizzie Rose and Christopher Wood - exhibiting in a quartet of shows. They are four artists who orbit nature's wonders with very individual results. The opening day for these is Saturday 15th March.
Last week Lizzie Rose from Argyll arrived with twelve incredible new works, so we have made space for these and called the exhibition 'Above and Below.' It includes some of the best drawings we've seen in years.
We also have seven new Forest Vessels from Patricia Shone. In these beautiful ceramic forms, Patricia Shone has used her honed skills, this time, to conjure woodlands - or maybe bark - in vessels which appear to come from a realm of fire and earth outside our own.
Christopher Wood's work is now in the gallery and hung for his exhibition 'Ancient Songs.' They show how abstraction, colour and form are able to awake deeper feelings and understandings of place.
We also have new work by Shetland-based Peter Davis RSW. Davis is one of the UK's most innovative painters in watercolour. Only Peter Davis can capture the energy of Shetland's vast sky and seascapes in a small rectangle.
